The two mantels in this collection were designed by Roger Butterfield in the Spring of 1999 and the Fall of 2002. They are based on a vineyard theme featuring the bounty of grapes and grape leaves integrated into the underlying structure of a classic mantel piece. This collection is otherwise not available outside of NextGrain.
 

Every Vineyard Studios mantel comes with a brass plaque signed by the designer and giving the number of the mantel in the edition.

The mantels are carved in solid mahogany and shipped in four boxes: the two legs, the carved header and the mantel shelf. The components are easily assembled and then installed by a cabinet maker or finish carpenter. 

We suggest a raised hearth and a stone or file facing surrounding the firebox opening. Shop drawings are available of both designs along with installation instructions.

The Merlot Mantel is designed for a 42” wide by 24” high firebox opening. This gives 12” of clearance to the bottom of the carved header and mantel shelf and 6” to the side legs. Please check your local building codes. 

The Syrah Mantel is designed for a 36” side by 24” high firebox opening. This gives 12” of clearance to the bottom the carved header and mantel shelf and 6” to the side legs. Please check your local building codes.
